the official review of
The Da Vinci Code
The protagonist is a world reknown Harvard professor of Religious Symbology. The book is seen mostly through his PoV although its not him speaking as I, but it allows insight into his physche. The plot is that he , Robert Langdon is framed for the murder of the curator of the Louvre Museum in PAris( for all those unlearned soulS out there)jacques sauniere. at the very last second before his arrest,he finds out that someone has framed him and tipped of the french police (DCPJ. this information is given by parisienne cryptologist, sophie neveu who is incidentally jaccques sauniere's estranged grand daughter. then ensues a wild chase across france all thorugh the night , culminating in england. On the way they receive help from Sir Leigh Teabing, a world authority on the Holy Grail and they are thwarted at every step of the way by a mysterious self mutilating albino, belonging to the fanatical organisation Opus Dei who are in the pay of the Vatican city itself who seeks to destroy the documents which were in posession of jaccques sauniere. he was the grand master of the Priory Of Sion which was an organisation who was founded to protect the Holy Grail, the documents tracing Christs' bloodline. The albino killed JAccques and his three senechaux but jaccques left a cryptogram for his daughter ot discover and find the holy grail beofre Opus dei does. and so the story begins. *phew* thats just the BEGINNING.
it is a very fast paced story with a totally different plot, deviating from your usual cops, robbers and lawyers. the interesting thing is that almost everything happens in 24 hours. :o. only thing that slows the book down are the chunks of information that appear, not irrelevantly i must add, throughtout the book. these, while absolutely essential in the full understanding of the book, make Dan Brown appear as an eager boy who having just finished his explosive research wants ti tell the world and hence pours it all into lenghty passages. sometimes the research is so absorbing that it can make you forget that this is all happeneing in minutes. a good way to read this book would be to have a pen and paper if the holy grail is your interest for this book provides information that might not be able of be gathered easily. so...in short
YEAH. read it. its fucking good.
2:34 pm;can you keep a secret?
